Hello! In an attempt to ingratiate myself to those awesome people on Blogger whose writing I look forward to reading every day, I'd like to recommend my favorite blogs here on Blogger. They are varied, so hopefully everyone can find something they like!
Just click the link open in a new tab/window. Then, in the upper left, hit Follow. It's that simple!
First and Foremost, there is Ask a Manager. Allison Green used to be the Chief of Staff at a medium-sized non-profit (which, interestingly, is the US News and World Report's way of saying "The Marijuana Policy Project"), and now she is a management consultant available for hire. I've used her advice in countless ways even in managing my team at Jack in the Box, and once my business ventures are up and running she'll be the first person I hire to tell me everything I'm doing wrong. Read everything she writes; it's all gold.
My next recommendation applies only to people living in the Portland, OR area. Booze Moves is an event put on every Monday night at the Alberta Street Pub. Basically, they show a movie on a big projector every Monday night for free. There is usually some kind of clever, movie-quote related password you can tell the bartender to give you $1 off drinks, too! Overall, a wonderful time. Watching Yojimbo and Sanjuro there was particularly great. Follow the blog to hear about what's coming up!
Cents and Centsability is a personal finance blog a friend of mine writes, and she can find a deal anywhere. While DealNews may be the place to go for a laptop or big screen TV, Angela can tell you how to spend $1.50 to get $50 worth of everyday groceries. She is a coupon queen and has great tips on storing food, event planning and smart shopping as well.
Ever lose a camera on vacation? Found Cameras and Orphan Pictures is a posting place where people can find lost cameras, rolls of film, and whatnot. Always entertaining to look at, and they really do help many people reunite with their pictures!
Money and Such is one of the first blogs I started reading regularly. It's written by an anonymous telecom executive (codename: Shadox) and contains all kinds of useful financial information written in a compelling way. You also get treated, on occasion, to the public policy rant or adventures in car-buying; you know, the "and such" part. Always excellent, and he often raises economic issues in ways I've never thought of (and I have a political economy degree).
If you like eating tasty food (why would I even need to ask that, other than wanting a clever opening?), check out shesimmers. While she blogs on a variety of culinary delights, she most commonly has Thai on the mind (as she is from a Thai family), and is the source of the best Thai peanut sauce recipe in the world.
That wraps it up for now, though I'm sure I'll have more to add to this once the Bloggers for the 31 Days to a Brand New Blog starting writing. Excite!
:-)
